IAQ (Indoor Air Quality)

Air Duct Cleaning
Indoor Air Quality is often generalized as “duct cleaning” though ducts alone do not address all areas that affect indoor air quality. Superior Mechanical understands your HVAC system includes the mechanical system as well as the air ducts that carry the treated air throughout your home and inspects and cleans the entire system, assuring you of clean, fresh air.

To help conserve energy, homes built since the energy crisis of the early seventies are constructed so tightly that additional mechanical ventilation is required to prevent indoor air quality problems; a lack of fresh air and excessive moisture build-up in poorly ventilated areas contributing to mold and mildew. Older homes can also have indoor air quality concerns with excessive buildup of dust, debris and contaminants in the HVAC system and air ducts. Household dust can contain dust mites, mildew, pollen, and animal dander. Other contaminants include the off-gassing of paint, furniture, carpets or chemicals such as household cleaners or pesticide. These contaminants are circulated throughout the home by the central air system and can increase breathing problems, especially for those already affected by asthma and allergies.

Air duct cleaning can:
• Reduce levels of dirt and debris • Reduce the levels of mold
• Reduce the levels of pollen • Reduce the levels of dust mites
• Improve the efficiency of your
   HVAC system

Here’s what we’ll do…
We clean the register covers to remove cooking oil film, nicotine film and other dust-collecting substances.
We deep clean the source of the air supply (where applicable) the blower; squirrel cage; coils; condensation pan, and return air supply.
The air ducts are then brushed and vacuumed clean with an exclusive, patented technology that removes the contaminants circulating through the air duct system. This thorough cleaning is followed by sanitizing with an environmentally safe sanitizer commonly used in hospitals and nursing homes. Your system is virtually contaminant-free, fresh and clean.

Superior Mechanical is proud to offer air quality preventive measures with Guardian Air

Guardian Air by RGF is designed to eliminate sick building syndrome risks by reducing:
• Odors
• Pollutants
• Chemical odors
• Smoke
• Mold, bacteria and viruses

The Guardian Air cells are easily mounted into the air ducts of your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. When the HVAC system is in operation, the Guardian Air cell cleanses and purifies the air through Advanced Oxidation Process, a harmless process that uses natural elements found in the atmosphere – oxygen and hydrogen that oxidize, or neutralize the pollutants.

Maintain your clean ductwork – change filters more often, especially in high pollen seasons; increase the filtration capability of filters, such as a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter that provides 98% filtration.

How can you tell if your air ducts need cleaning?

• Check your ceiling fan. Is there dust
buildup on the blades?

• Is there discoloration around the intake or blower vents?

• Has there been recent remodeling or
construction?

• Do you have pets?

• Does it seem there isn’t enough air
coming from your vents?

• Have you been using just a standard
fiberglass filter in your system?

• Has there been a fire, even a small one in any part of your home? Smoke
contamination (soot, the result of
incomplete combustion becomes
airborne) can be transported into other
areas of your home by the HVAC system.

• Do you notice an increase in “dustiness” after using your fireplace?

• Is there a smoker in your home? In most nicotine problem situations, the HVAC system has collected nicotine, the
sticky film produced by burning tobacco.

• Is there a musty odor in your home?

• Does anyone in your home suffer
respiratory problems, have asthma or
allergies?

• How often should your air ducts be
cleaned?

• Has your toilet overflowed and water
gotten into your floor vents?

• Remove a vent cover and look inside!
